Lindisfarne started on March 9, 2003. The charter members comprised mainly of working women who, unable to meet during
the week, chose the afternoon of the third Sunday of the month as their regular meeting date.
The members of Lindisfarne work hard to raise money for Mountbatten House and local charities by organizing special events such as: Bonfire Night, and Wine and Cheese Tasting Evenings. Twice a year we collect gently used clothing and household goods which are donated to the Women's Haven and Salvation Army. Because some of our members have been touched either directly or indirectly by breast cancer, we participate in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Forth Worth. Additional fund raising activities include participation in the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor program, and support of the fund raising activities of other chapters within the DBE. We make needlepoint coasters and tissue boxes which are offered for sale at our fund raising events, the Houston Bazaar and at the ACMs.
Chapter meetings are generally held on the third Sunday of the month at a member's home, except during the summer months of June, July and August. Occasionally, meetings are held at area restaurants or tea rooms, and sometimes even on weeknights to allow for more flexibility for our
