Jane Austen received its charter Mar 18th 1972. Membership has, naturally, changed over the years and has included four
mother/daughter pairs. Our members are from England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand.
Fund raising activities such as Bake sales, Garage sales, Tupperware parties, White Elephant sales, Patio parties, Theatre parties and a memorable Chinese party have kept members busy.
During the Fiesta week celebrations in San Antonio, members walk proudly in the annual Pilgrimage to the Alamo and the wreath laying ceremony, in honor of the Englishmen who died for Texas freedom.
In addition to our support of Mountbatten House, the Chapter has also contributed to local charities including, Battered Women's Shelter and the Beautify San Antonio Association.
