The Hampton Court Chapter came into being in 1981. Among the founding members was Pat Bell who is still a member of the
Chapter.
Over the years we have had various fund raising events such as, Bangers and Mash Suppers; English Pub Party; Selling Christmas and Birthday crackers, Knitted and Fabric tea cozies and jewelry bags (we had a lot of fun making these items, the production of which was helped along by the amount of laughter and sherry shared!). We have found a butcher here in Dallas who makes wonderful English sausages. These we order in bulk and sell, at a profit, to members and British friends. The last five years we have had very successful garage sales.
In addition to sending donations to Mountbatten House we have supported local charities such as: The Family Place, a Battered Women's Shelter; Senior Adult Services and Food Bank in the Carrollton/Farmers Branch area. Also KRLD's Christmas Charities for the mentally challenged, and Operations Kindness, a No Kill animal shelter.
Social events that we have for no other reason than to enjoy each others company, are Summer lunches and our Christmas lunch.
