West Side of San Antonio

The first meeting of Cardiff Chapter was held May 1st, 1970. One of the original Charter signers is still with the Chapter after 40 years!! Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month in the evening as many of our members work.

Our fundraising activities include garage sales, Crazy Bridge nights, arts and crafts events. Our aim has been, and will continue to be, to donate as much as possible to Mountbatten House, our DBE Home, but we have always tried to help a little in our local community. We have in the past donated small gob to State Chest Hospital patients, an old ladies home, March of Dimes, donated a used Piano to Leon Valley Lodge. We worked with TMI on a wine and cheese evening to raise funds for the Magna Carta being brought to San Antonio and raised $500. At the present time we try to help out a local unmarried mother's home. At Christmas time we go serve them a typical English High Tea, sing Carols etc. and everyone seems to have a super time These are but a few of the past endeavors to help our community and to let them get to know who DBE are and what they are all about.

In April 1972 we were honored to be included in the annual Pilgrimage to the Alamo, as several Englishmen fought and died there on behalf of Texas freedom. This is a day that we look forward to with pride each year as we march together with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and lay a wreath on behalf of the DBE.

We continue to enjoy our association with the British Sporting Club, participating in many of their events.
